Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Tense and relax different muscle groups to release physical tension

  1. Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down.
  2. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to relax.
  3. Start by tensing the muscles in one part of your body, such as your right hand, for about 5-10 seconds.
  4. Focus on the tension and then release it suddenly, letting the muscles relax completely.
  5. Take a few deep breaths and notices the difference between the tension and relaxation.
  6. Repeat this process with different muscle groups, working your way through your body from head to toe, or vice versa.
  7. Remember to take slow, deep breaths throughout the exercise.
  8. Take your time and allow yourself to fully relax each muscle group.
  9. Finish by taking a few moments to enjoy the overall sense of relaxation in your body.
  10. Practice regularly to enhance your personal experience with this skill.
