Why Do We Have Emotions?
Emotions serve as a connection to the world around us. It can serve as a way of understanding what may be happening internally or externally. Each emotion that we have can serve a useful purpose for us if channeled in the right way.
Take away the labels of good and bad with emotions. They are in and of themselves neutral. What becomes good or bad is what we do with our emotions. Anger properly utilized can help us to instigate positive change in ourselves or the world around us. Anger unregulated can lead to destructive behaviors, including harmful words, breaking things, and physical violence.
Emotions should not be the driving force for us, nor should they be completely ignored in favor of our rational/logical side. Work to find meeting points between both of those sides, so that you can have the most confidence in actions that you will take. Taking this approach can help you avoid impusive or self destructive actions.
